Elections & Racial Sentiments
9:08 AM
Firstly, I would like to set the records straight that I'm not a racist but rather miss those times when I was in primary school that we knew no racial barriers. I remembered that we use to share food together, the Malays would tell the Indians if the food had eggs (like Raya cookies), Chinese telling their sandwiches had pork etc.
Today, all that is missing. Lets be honest to ourselves, the last Elections (PRU 12) the campaining and results were purely racial nothing to do about the economy or moving forward as One Nation. This, to me, I owe to Pak Lah, who had destroyed 50 years of Nation building and the social fabric of our Nation.
I was even shocked, going to Kuala Sepetang during the By-elections of Bukit Gantang, the Chinese Community there could bluntly say that they are not going to give their votes to Barisan Nasional (BN) solely because BN brought down "their Chinese Government". I was totally shocked at the remark being made. It had nothing to do with Government aid to Chinese Schools not given (the last I checked in the Parliamentary Hansard, the Government has been giving aid to Chinese Schools even when there are no elections). What was said by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, aftermath of the By-elections was true.
Be it Malay, Chinese or Indians, we only have this Blessed Nation to live in. What are we going to educate out next generation? The Malays have given in all these years to the Chinese and Indians towards the betterment of the Nation. The Chinese had in a way build the economy of the Nation and the Indians too.
Therefore, in the name of Unity, we must all learn once more, to give and take. Let not one Community feels that its giving in too much nor another to feel that its superior in receiving much more.
The Government has a new leader today. If we are sincere in our hearts and want whats best for the Nation and those living in it, Lets Unite. We have come along way. Our founding fathers wouldn't want us to fail. We only have ourselves to blame should we fail, because there is no room for failure.
Before I leave this post, I have a video that I found which is appropriate for us. Enjoy it.
